Bonjour! I'm coming to you from an undisclosed location in the U.S. (if you can't wait till next week to find out where I am, then follow me on Twitter at @JohnnyJet). We pick up where we left off in Lyon, France. From there we drove south to the Rhone Valley—it was my first time and boy, was I surprised. Wow is this place beautiful! If you are thinking that's too far or are traveling with kids, check out Lisa Tucker McElroy's story on the Nickelodeon Hotel and Cruise.

TRAVEL FRAUD
Unfortunately, it's been brought to my attention that there are a couple of individuals who are promising to publish stories on JohnnyJet.com in return for a free or discounted trip. If your office gets a request like this please forward it directly to me at Johnny(AT)JohnnyJet.com. Chances are they don't have an assignment letter and you will be not getting an ROI.

ANGELINI'S
The most interesting thing I did in L.A. last week was have dinner with a couple of friends at Angelini Osteria. Angelini's is a small, popular Italian restaurant on Beverly Boulevard that serves delicious food but has terrible service. Our Italian waiter with a flavor saver made us feel so uncomfortable by trying to rush us that he almost ruined our experience. I despise restaurants like this that try to turn the tables over so they can make more cash. Because of him, I will never go back and certainly don't recommend it to anyone, even though their Nutella Cake is soo darn good. Angelini Osteria (Tel.: 323-297-0070).

  • Johnny, I concur with your frustration over the lack of support reaching Haiti. But you have to please remember that it's a seriously third world country and they don't have the facilities to accept the support! It's not like other countries didn't help, it's that they are staged to help but couldn't! I'm sure you posed this early on in the crisis, therefore understandable. I understand this since I live on a small island in a seriously third world country way. Nicole S - Phi Phi, Thailand

  • The Marriott is great and Kalapaki bay is the best... But next time try a vacation rental for a better local experience on Kaua'i. Much less expensive and tips from owners will get you to the activities, free and high end, that you will not learn from a concierge. We welcome you... http://KauaiDawn.com for a $99 a night expereince you won't forget. Dawn – Kauai, Hawaii

  • I flew AF across the pond in Nov and I too thought they had amazing food and service. It shows the French enjoy food, wine and life in general! I wish we could get more of that "joie de vivre" in the States! Claudia R - Princeton, NJ

  • Great, now I have to go to Lyon along with Hawaii. Bernadette W -

  • I missed viewing last week's newsletter. Imagine my surprise to see more than one newsletter! Wow! LA to Hawaii to Arizona to Lyon France. What a whirlwind traveler you have become! My wife and I stayed at the Marriott Waikiki Beach Hotel about 2 years ago. Nice location but very hot when we were there in June. Is the ukulele store still out front? Keep up the travels! I also signed up to follow you on Twitter! Geof O - San Diego
