Greetings from NYC! This week we got a taste of SUMMER
for a day, and I mean only a day. Monday, it was a whopping 75 degrees here
and it was awesome! You know it's warm when you can dine
on the roof top in short sleeves. Don't be too jealous because we're
back indoors now with temperatures hovering around 50 and raining.
I started the week off by attending the eTravel
World conference at the Marriott Marquis
in midtown (In the heart of Times Square). I only caught the tale end of
it because I was in L.A., but it was still great to see some
new ones, and hangout with other members
of the press. The conference was first rate, with great speakers,
panels and prime time networking opportunities. If you're in the travel
business don't miss the next eTravel conference which is in Vega$ in October
(I'll be there rolling the dice!).
When the show was over most of us took off on the Subway.
I went south on the 5 train to wish my Nephew
a happy B-Day, and of course My
Dad was there too.
Working in the entertainment industry by day, enables me to meet all kinds
of celebrities. My favorite this week was Tate
George (remember him? He made UCONN's most famous shot in 1990 against
Clemson). He's a really cool guy and we drafted him to be on our summer
B-Ball team (watch out!). The big party this week was at Lot 61 for Teen
People's top 25 stars under twenty five. I guess I'm getting old because
I only heard of a few of the stars, but don't worry I talked Britney
into becoming a Johnny Jet subscriber (I had to buy her a Pepsi).
Speaking of parties, Amber came in town and we celebrated
her birthday. We went out on the town and saw The
Tale Of The Allergist Wife. The play was hilarious and the theater
wasn't too big, so any seat would be good. It stars Linda Lavin and Tony
Roberts, to get last minute tickets to this play or any others go to the
TKTS booth the day
of the show. It's first come, first serve but the tickets are usually 50%
off. TIP: There are 2 TKTS booths in Manhattan, the one in Times Square
always has a two hour wait, so take the subway to the World Trade Center
(the same tower with the observatory) and the booth is inside.
Most theaters are right in Times
Square, so there's plenty of restaurants to go to before or after
(Make reservations if you prefer to go early). We chose to go after and
went to a fine restaurant that all of you would appreciate it's name: "The
Red Eye Grill". There are planes all throughout the restaurant and
the food is tasty (CAUTION: Beware of the eyes
on your shrimp). You know how I'm a sucker for sweets, but this
By Chocolate was the kicker. $14 BUCKS for that thing and
Amber only took a few bites. Which meant I had to eat it all because I couldn't
let a fourteen dollar dessert go to waste.
GREAT NEWS! We made Access
Magazine this week. All the press helps so much, so please tell your
friends. And PLEASE take a moment to email: email@example.com

OF THE WEEK:
you get tired or bored with other Captain and FO. on long trips? Or
do you always get along??
QUESTION OF THE WEEK:
your impression of main cabin passengers who upgrade themselves by sneaking
into the first or business class cabin? Have you ever intervened? Have
their ever been passengers who refuse to move back?
QUESTION OF THE WEEK:
are my chances on getting the base of my choice with AWA? And what is
graduation day like? Also, what is the easiest way to learn the pa announcements.
If you can help with these questions, please help me. Thank you.
TIP OF THE WEEK:
Toilet Kit Suggestions
If you are a regular traveler, have a toilet kit permanently packed with
your usual items for use on the road only. This keeps you from having to
reassemble your kit each time you take a trip.
Buy a set of small, plastic, travel-sized bottles (available at many drugstores)
for packing your potions and lotions. Don't fill them to the top as changes
in aircraft cabin pressure cause leaks. Pack all liquids that might leak
together in a resealable bag. Be sure aerosols (shaving cream, mousse, hairspray)
have their plastic protective tops attached.
Always pack your toilet kit in your carry-on bag. You never know what might
happen to a bag in the belly of the plane. Otherwise, keep a bottle of aspirin
or any prescription drugs you might lose, and store it in your carry-on
bag. (The same goes for contact lens solution and lens storage case.)
