Hello from Chilly Chicago (it snowed here yesterday).   For those of you who are just joining us for the first time (thanks to the L.A. GOOD TO KNOW!
Johnny Jet:  I returned from San Francisco last week and I am reporting on the Green Gables Inn in Pacific Grove- it was GREAT!  It is one of about 6 bed and breakfasts owned by Kimpton, mostly on the West Coast.  It is a charming Victorian home, but only one room (The Jennifer) has a private bath.  The others are lovely and are $160 with a shared bath.  We stayed in Suite #9 which is behind the house, but on the end so you have a great view (and sound) of the ocean.  It had all of the amenities:  jacuzzi and separate shower, antiques including a four-poster king-size bed, fireplace, a complimentary bottle of wine, etc. for $240. Wine is served in the house from 4:30-6:30 and dessert and sherry at 8:00 pm.  We had a wonderful breakfast with a choice of cereal, fresh fruit, quiche, and an assortment of toast/bagels/apple cakes.  Coffee and tea are available 24 hours a day.  I highly recommend it!!       Jane - New Orleans
