>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>WHERE'S
JOHNNY
JET?<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Greetings! I thought you might get a kick out
of this Easter
card, that reminded me of my Dad. My week starts off on Thursday
night, when I went to a bachelor party in NYC to pay my last respects to
my buddy Fred. My Dad, brother, and cousin were there and we had a great
time hanging out. I managed to make it to the office on time, then
went directly to JFK and caught the last flight out to L.A.. I was
stoked to see some friends
working the flight, which made it go by much
faster (getting upgraded helped too).
I met Amber in LAX, because we landed within 5 minutes
of each other. I don't understand why United takes the arrival
info off the screen so quickly. Literally it's off within minutes
after landing. If your picking somebody up or meeting them at the gate (like
me) don't be late or you have to go stand in line to ask somebody the gate
info.
Saturday morning I rolled out of bed and roller bladed
(my bike was broken) to Hermosa to play volleyball before a late morning
brunch at Martha's. Ahh stuffed french toast with cream cheese and
raspberries is to die for (Know wonder why my waist isn't getting any smaller
:-(). Speaking of food, my
roommate is a chef and he's driving me nuts. He doesn't have a girlfriend's
house to go to when I get into town, so he stays home and drives me nuts.
Can any of you set this boy up?
Since we couldn't have quiet evenings at home we went
out. Saturday night we had dinner in Venice at C&O's, and then
went to a bar in M.B. called Harry O's to meet my
cousins. We were pretty tired so we split around 11:30. Sunday
came around quickly and as you all know it was Easter. I used to love this
holiday, but this year Easter doesn't mean much to me without my Mom around.
We made the most of it though, and Amber did a good job as the Easter Bunny.
We gave each other sooo much chocolate and candy that I'm still wired. The
kicker was getting talked into Dying Easter Eggs on the beach. Walking
to our spot on the sand I told Amber "if I ever got busted coloring eggs
on the beach by my "boys" (friends) I would never hear the end of it." I
made sure I wasn't going to get caught so I wore a disguise.
It actually was a lot of fun, relaxing, and the eggs looked good in a sand
nest. My friends didn't see me, but the Baywatch
lifeguards did.
We went to five o'clock mass, then cruised to my Aunt's
house for Easter
dinner. It's was nice to finally have a home cooked meal.
It was time to go to work on Monday afternoon. My
job for the day was to drive to Burbank and meet Jamie and our publicist
backstage at the Tonight Show. It was a long drive in traffic so Amber came
for the ride and I dropped her off two miles away at City
walk where we had dinner afterwards. It was my first time
backstage and it was an experience. The dressing rooms are small but that's
where we hung out most of the time. Crocodile Dundee was next store, and
I didn't say much to him. Jay came in and chatted for a few minutes, then
popped in and out of make-up, then went on stage and worked the crowd a
bit. He's a nice guy with a lot of energy. He kept running around
the halls calling us "Show People". "What's up Show People" he would
yell. The producer came in, and told Jamie what questions to expect
and what to talk about. I thought that was a little disappointing, because
I always thought it was impromptu.
The best part of being back stage was they come around
with a candy and cookie filled cart (you know I had my hands full). What
was funny was: We were in the dressing room watching the show being taped,
and Jay says in is monologue to Kevin Eubanks "Do you know Vermont is the
whitest state in the U.S.", and Kevin goes I actually know a black person
who lives there, named Gamal". I almost fainted, because Gamal is a real
close family friend and he actually sang at my Mom's funeral. How bizarre
is that? The one day I go back stage (BTW: I've been on the show twice,
but both times were on location) and they mention someone I know. After
the show I saw Kevin and we chatted for a few minutes about Gamal. He is
a genuine nice guy (and buff). Looking at him made me take one of those
chocolates out of my pocket and toss it back on the tray.

CAPTAINS QUESTION
OF THE WEEK:
What
airport has the best airport food?
SKYGIRLS
QUESTION OF THE WEEK:
I just
returned from a British Airways flight from Gatwick to Phoenix.
I had a 7 am cab to avoid the rush hour crowds on the tube and lugging
3 pieces of luggage. So, I did not have breakfast.
We were served lunch on the plane. I was in budget class and was
still hungry. I asked my cabin attendant after she was finished
serving everybody if there were any entrees left and if so could I have
one. It did not matter which. Was I out of line asking for
food that was extra?

Why

TIP OF THE WEEK:
By Chris

Little Things Count
o Pack shoes in plastic bags to avoid soiling your clothes. (Use the ones
supplied by hotel laundry services.)
o Two axioms to remember: "If you have to check it, don't bring it," and
"Bring half as many clothes and twice as much money."
o Keep a roll of Scotch tape in your bag at all times. It can be used to
quickly mend hems, seal bottles, or remove lint from those black outfits.
Also, carry a prepacked travel sewing kit that includes a needle, thread,
and a few buttons.
o If you are in a mad rush for the airport, don't fret about whether or
not you have packed everything you could conceivably need. Remember that
you can buy just about anything you may need at your destination.
o If there's no way you can carry on a valuable item, consider purchasing
excess valuation insurance when you check your bags. It costs about $1 per
$100 in declared value.
o Remove or secure the hook on your hang-up bag or any other handle or appendage
that could get caught or snagged in the airline baggage-handling systems.
