Welcome to the Air Traffic Control System Command Center Real-time Airport Status page.  Select an airport from the map or from the drop-down list to obtain the latest delay information.
Did you know that there are from 4,000 to 6,000 aircraft operating in the National Airspace System (NAS) during peak periods?  This equates to approximately 50,000 aircraft operations per day. Check out the picture that shows over 5,000 aircraft operating in the system at one time.
The role of the Air Traffic Control System Command Center (ATCSCC) is to manage this flow of air traffic within the continental United States.  The ATCSCC has been operational since 1994 and is located in one of the largest and most sophisticated facilities of its kind.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>WHERE'S JOHNNY JET?<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Alrighty. I'm back!  You will never guess what happened:  I took my Bi-Weekly JFK-LAX flight and I was walking to the taxi stand and said to myself  "I know you have small change this week". I opened my wallet to double check and I had a five, a few ones, and the next smallest bill was....  that's right $100!!!.  UUGGGHHH!  My stomach got woozy.  I said not again. This time I was alert, but I was already outside and I wasn't going to go through security to get to an ATM. I went to the taxi stand and an older driver said "you ready" and I said "not unless you take credit cards", so he said "NOPE"!  I said (with a sarcastic voice) "how about breaking a HUNDRED". The taxi driver said "Of course I can, we all can and if they say they don't, they're lying".  I was like WHAT?  We jumped in and this guy was super cool.
Cruising along the Pacific Ocean,  I told him about my $84 tip story. He couldn't believe it.  He went on to tell me that happened to him last week: "A foreign tourist gave me a bill and said keep the change. While driving I reached in my pocket to put the money in my wallet and it was a FIFTY, I said he must've made a mistake. The fare was only $6.  I turned the cab around, ran after him (almost got a parking ticket) and said I think you gave me the wrong bill".  The passenger was surprised and said with an accent "No, I gave you a ten". "Well, it was a fifty". The visitor was so thankful, he said this was my last bit of his money,  and continued to thank me.
I said "that was awful nice of you".  The California Native made a great point, he said "not really, it's all about KARMA.  If I took that fifty, I would've been mugged or my taxi here would've broke down".  He's right, it is about Karma....
That must mean I am  going to make that $84 back next week gambling on the Cruise :-)

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>UNITED/USAir<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Since we continue to get so many emails with questions regarding the UA/USAir merger. This week we have decided to get one of our SkyGuys perspective:

QUESTION:   Do you think the United/US Air deal will go through? & How will it affect the Flight Attendants? Are you excited?

So far the consensus is that the deal will go through however, the breath in the air is that the pilots union ALPA will definitely vote it down, the mechanics IAM will vote for it, and the flight attendants who cannot vote (are not owners), are very against it.  One major concern with all the unions is that of seniority.  If USair flight attendants will come to United with 3 for 1 seniority, (a 30 year seniority USair employee comes to United with 10 years), I think the majority would approve of the deal.  If they come to United with their existing seniority, it'll be really ugly.  A USair F/A with 30 years seniority flying out of Pittsburgh comes to NYC and says, "Wow! you guys fly to Japan, Rio De Janeiro, Argentina? Cool, I'll do that!"  Bumps us down, and the trickle down affect sets in.   A United F/A with 15 years flying South America will be bumped down to 5 legs a day out of La Guardia with  9 hour layovers in Omaha, Rhode Island, Bismarck, and Fargo.  The majority of us believe that they (USair), should remember that United is buying them out, its not a merger! United is bailing USair out of a possible bankruptcy stage, and giving USair employees a job, they should feel lucky to have a job, go from #10 to #1 overnight.  United is paying 4.5 billion for the deal ($60 per share for stock worth half that), taking on 7.5 billion dollars in debt and United Pilots still do not have a contract.  There are a lot of very angry United employees out there.  USair...very happy.  United...very unhappy!

GOOD TO KNOW!
I always have ear problems on the airplane.

I carry a bottle of bottled water on the plane & the swallowing reflex can help to relieve ear pressure.

For people like me with really bad ear problems, take sudafed 30 minutes before getting on the plane (ask your doctor for the correct dosage based on your
weight - I take 4 & weigh 170 lbs.).  Sudafed is a decongestant & causes the sinuses to drain.   C Egan ~ Dallas, TX
