I just read "CIVIL WARRIORS": The Legal Siege on the Tobacco Industry".  It's a great book for an airplane trip, it's got intrigue, sex, suspense, humor and it reads quickly.  ~ Laura P.  New York, NY

Ten Tips For Summer Water Safety (From Bestfares.com)

Florida's Destin, Fort Walton Beach, Okaloosa Island and the United States Lifesaving Association (USLA) offer safety tips to vacationers taking advantage Florida's Emerald Coast or any summer  watersport destinations.

• Choose a smart spot. The buddy system is best. Always swim or surf near a lifeguard-occupied tower.
• Learn a stroke or two. Take swimming lessons and enroll your children in classes appropriate to their skill and age.
• Swim the shore. If you are taking a vigorous swim, always swim parallel to the shore.
• Clear your mind. Alcohol and drugs are major factors in  drowning. Both impair good judgment and have no place in an aquatic environment.
• Leash your board. Use a breakaway leash on your bodyboards or surfboards. You never know when you may  need it.
• Know your limits. Float where you can swim. If you can not swim, do not float. Never overestimate your abilities in the water.
• Life preservers save lives. Always wear a life jacket on a boat, even if you do not plan to go into the water.
• Jump, do not dive. Sandbars surface many yards off shore, so test the water. Always enter feet first the first time.
• Be a lifesaver. Be alert. At home and often at the beach, you are the lifeguard. Never leave a child alone near the water.
• Wait the current, Most rip currents are narrow. Don't panic. Instead, swim parallel to the shore until the offshore current subsides and you can swim safely ashore.
