Travel Warnings & Consular Information Sheets
http://travel.state.gov/travel_warnings.html
Travel Warnings are issued when the State Department decides, based on all relevant information, to recommend that Americans avoid travel to a certain country. Countries where avoidance of travel is recommended will have Travel Warnings as well as Consular Information Sheets.
Consular Information Sheets are available for every country of the world. They include such information as location of the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in the subject country, unusual immigration practices, health conditions, minor political disturbances, unusual currency and entry regulations, crime and security information, and drug penalties. If an unstable condition exists in a country that is not severe enough to warrant a Travel Warning, a description of the condition(s) may be included under an optional section entitled "Safety/Security." On limited occasions, we also restate in this section any U.S. Embassy advice given to official employees. Consular Information Sheets generally do not include advice, but present information in a factual manner so the traveler can make his or her own decisions concerning travel to a particular country.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>WHERE'S JOHNNY JET?<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Good Day Everyone! I spent a few days in L.A. and flew to NYC on Sat.  It's pretty amazing how comfortable I have come with flying. When I was 21 (after I conquered my fear of flying), I used to get anxiety a month before the flight.  These days I get the shakes after two weeks if I don't fly.
My first week on the job has been great. It's so nice to work from wherever you want.  I appreciate the support and welcome more.  We have a lot of exciting things in store for Johnny Jet, and I can't wait to share them with you (soon).
Stories?  I do have a funny story for you.  It happened yesterday morning in NYC.  I am on the subway going to my 9:30 am appointment in mid-town, and as most people on the train, I am staring up at the billboards, minding my own business and thinking what a great place for a Johnny Jet.com advertisement!  The train is packed and everybody is tired and bummed they are going to work on such a beautiful day.  I am standing right by the door, minding the gap (if you don't understand go to London). The train makes another stop and no one is getting off, but more people are getting on. In bounces this thirty something latino woman, whose headphones are so loud, I can hear the song perfectly. She is singing, and dancing.  Everyone is starting to look at her because she is loud ( I don't think she realized it, but I can tell you if she did, she didn't care).  Wouldn't you know there was no place for her to go but stand (dance) by me near the door.  I am trying not to pay attention to her, but she kept bumping me and hip checking me against the door.  When she sees me look at her, she decides to freak me (for those of you who don't know what freaking is, it's when some freak uses your body as they dance, it occurs 99.9% on the dance floor). I began to turn red and tried not to laugh, but I must've had a smile from ear to ear.  It's 9:00am and I am getting freaked in the subway.  Only in N.Y.

When I was busy working in Hawaii, I asked my brother Frank to attend the opening of the W Hotel in New Orleans. He did, and his picture made the internet this week.  It doesn't look like he was upset about attending, does he?.

If you own a Sprint cell phone like I do, you know how frustrating their service can be.  I came across this article in Forbes magazine, it's a must read for people who own one. I couldn't agree more with his letter: Dear Sprint: You Ticked Off the Wrong Guy

A BOOK FOR THE PLANE
300 Incredible Things to Do on the Internet -- Vol. I
by Ken Leebow, Paul Joffe (Editor)
Incredible things for you . . .
"That's incredible!" I find myself saying that phrase over and over again when visiting fascinating Web sites for the first time, or return to particularly useful ones.

The Internet holds great promise for all who are willing and able to take advantage of the opportunities. However, as with anything that seems too good to be true, there's a catch: finding the best sites can be very difficult.

This book has been designed to simplify and enhance your experience on the Internet. Whether you are an experienced Web surfer or a new user, you will be directed to numerous informative, entertaining and remarkable sites.

Go ahead, buy this book for yourself or friend, then gather everyone around computer and let your incredible journey begin. I am sure that you too will soon be saying, "that's incredible!"

Reviewer: Lauren from Baltimore, MD
Whether you've never ventured out of your hometown or you've traveled the world ten times over, you need this book! The Internet sites provided in this book are beyond comparison and the contents are much more thorough than any other source out there. The new places I have discovered because of this book even in my own town amaze me. And the best thing about this book is that the information is neatly organized into this easy-to-pack guide! Thanks!

GOOD TO KNOW!
Would You Be the Last One to Survive? (From Bestfares.com)
GORP.com Offers Top Ten Survival Tips

You're stranded in the middle of no where. Would you know what to do in order to keep yourself alive? Chances are, you won't be competing to win a million dollars with network camera  crews recording your every move, but if you're faced with being stranded, you'll need to know the best way to survive in any situation. Here are some tips from Bill Greer, Editor-in-Chief of GORP.com, the leading Internet site dedicated to  outdoor recreation and adventure travel, on what to do to help you survive.

1.  Before you leave, prepare for the worst -- preparation is first key to survival in the wilderness.  If the cast of the CBS phenomenon "Survivor" could have brought anything with them, a few staples should have made the list including, matches in a water-proof container, water-proof tarp, water purification tablets, knife or small hatchet and bungee cords or rope.
2.  Let someone know where you are going and when to expect you back.
3.  Build a shelter and stay near it.  Chances are that a search party will find you more quickly if you stay put.  Build a signal fire to draw attention to your location.
4.  Keep warm or cool, depending on the climate.  Humidity, precipitation and wind can impact your chances of survival.  Even a small mylar "space blanket," or a few heavy-gauge garbage bags, can make a big difference.  Packing extra clothing, especially socks, can be a life-saving extra in an emergency.
5.  Rest.  Fatigue can mean the difference between life and death. Use your energy wisely.
6.  Treat injury and pain as best you can with what you have.  Even a minor injury can easily turn major when you're trying to survive.
7.  Drink plenty of water.  Water is more important to the body than food.
8.  Only eat things that are easy like plants, bugs and fish.  Don't  expend more energy trapping food than will be replenished by the
food itself.  Keeping a couple of high-energy sports bars in your pack is always a good idea -- and may mean the difference between having to eat hairy beach rats or three-inch long beetle larvae...
9.  Minimize your fear.  Yes, your situation may be dire, but the chances of a bobcat eating you alive or a bear attacking you are slim. A flashlight is a small addition to your pack that can help you feel in  control or alert a rescue team to your whereabouts.
10. Don't deny your situation, but don't let it get you down either.

Hopelessness can be your worst enemy.  Don't give up.
