Greetings!  Last week, I left you guys from my plane ride from Vancouver to Denver.  We were in DEN airport for a couple hours before our next flight which was to Boise.  That's right, Boise, Idaho!  YeeHaw!  United Airlines pretty much owns the Denver airport, so practically every flight coming in and out is a United jet.  If you are on United, (chances are you will be), they have two great identical Red Carpet Clubs that are on opposite sides of the airport.  Because they are on opposite sides of the airport the rooms are backwards and that always throws me off when I go to the bathroom.  I always think the door is on the right, but I end up being in the other one and it's on the left, so I look like a fool when I go running into the business center unzipping my fly.  In case you are hungry then I recommend going to Lefty's and getting some of their homemade potato chips.  Then I suggest going Wolfgang Pucks upstairs and getting a tasty chicken sandwich for $6.50, and then finish it off with a trip to the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, (they have two), for a voluptuous caramel apple.

The one-hour and forty-five minutes flight to Boise went by smooth and quick!  We stayed at the Grove Hotel which is the only four-star hotel in Boise and is owned by West Coast Hotels.  The hotel is right downtown, so you don't need to rent a car since you can walk everywhere.  Our van driver was laughing at us while he said "You guys picked a good night to stay with us."  We said, "Why?" And he said, "Because the whole Idaho State football team is staying at the hotel for their big game against Boise State tomorrow."  We said, "If they have a game tomorrow, that means they have a curfew, so were not worried."

We decided to go out and grab a drink somewhere and not ask any locals where to go.  (Rookie mistake!)  Instead, we just walked the main street near the hotel, which I think is fittingly called Main Street.  It's like Sunset Blvd on a Sat night. Cars were just cruising with young rowdy college/high school kids looking for trouble. I mean these kids all had unhappy faces and were itching to pick a fight.  We even saw one dude throw a garbage can on top of a parked car, and smash in the windshield.  I guess that's what they do for fun on a Friday night.  I'm not 100% sure because I didn't stick around long enough to find out.

We minded our own business and continued to walk until we saw a cool place from across the street.  "The Balcony" looked like happening place with a great BALCONY and a dance floor for the girls to dance. We paid the $3.50 cover and ordered a few drinks.  No one was dancing, (YES! I didn't have to go out there with my two left feet!), so we went outside and chatted.  The place did have a great balcony and a nice view of downtown Boise.
We were having a good time, when something out of the corner of my eye caught my attention.  I looked over my shoulder and saw this dude in a sailor outfit dancing in the window.  I'm like....Um... you guys...Are we in a gay bar?  Amber Airplane and her friend, Jayna, said, "Oh my God we must be!"  And then asked the couple next to us who confirmed it was.  We laughed hysterically, and was amazed that Boise had a gay bar, let alone right downtown on Main Street.
We were starving so we went a couple blocks toward our hotel and got a late night snack at the Pita Pit which is open  late (4am) and had some good inexpensive pita's.

The next morning, I waited by the elevator for Amber who was running late.  When she finally came running around the corner one of the football players must've saw her because we heard a sexy whistle call.  Amber wanted to get in the elevator, but since the guy couldn't see me, I gently pushed Amber out in the middle of the hallway while she was laughing.  She runs back to me, and the guy thought she was interested and said, "Let me introduce myself", then he turns the corner and sees me.  We all had a good laugh and then the elevator opens up. We jump in and it stops on the next floor.  Our eyes popped wide open when we saw 30 football players waiting to get in.  About 7 jumped in and we were now pinned up to the back corner.  I'm a pretty big guy, six foot, 200 pounds, (ok 205).  These guys made me look like Pee-Wee Herman, they were all 6'8'' and about 3 bills.

We survived the elevator ride and decided not to play "the let's walk around town and find a place to go without any guidance game," so we asked the concierge where the best place to go for breakfast was.  He said Goldy's around the corner.  He was right!  This place is one of the best breakfast places I have ever been .  You know you are in Idaho when you have eight (8!) choices of different types of potatoes, including sweet potato hash browns.

We took a walk around to see some of the landmarks and learned that Boise is the city of trees .  Checked out the Capital building which is right downtown, and then stumbled upon a good farmers market , which had all the usual fruits, vegetables, and flowers .   But I have never seen a market where you can buy all kinds of meat.

We wished we had more time to go down the Boise River in a innertube at Barber Park , but we didn't.  Instead, we drove ten minutes back to the Boise Airport which had no security line.  The airport is small and not fancy, but they do have video games all around to help kill time.  They had the best Pac-Man ever, you know the one they speed up so Pac flies like he's all juiced up on caffeine.

Since I am still trying to catch up to present time, I will throw in another quick trip I just made:  Burlingame, CA.  Burlingame is right next to SFO, (San Francisco Airport), which is a perfect place to meet for a quick business meeting like a I had.  I flew up there from LAX which took a measly 53 minutes.  Landing at SFO can be a great experience, if it is clear, because you have a great views of the bay area and it feels like your going to land on water .  You also go over these colorful salt mines.  (I think that's what they are).

If you just have a quick appointment, like me, the Hyatt at SFO airport is fine.  It has a lot of open space and usually when you stay at an airport hotel you get a lot more TV channels, including the current departures .  For Dinner:  If you like to watch planes take off and land, then go to (on a clear night) The Elephant Bar , it's three blocks from the hotel and you will have a great view of 747's coming and going.  For a great breakfast, go to one of my top five; Stacks , which is located in downtown Burlingame and has the best pancakes and egg scrambles around.

Congratulations to my cousin AJ and his new fiancé Jamie !
