I'm back home in L.A.after 23 days of being away! WOW! It feels good to be home (you know: check the snail mail, change the clothes, see some friends...)  Before making it back to L.A. I racked up a few more miles with trips to Chicago, and to NY/CT.
After venturing out on the marta in Atlanta, I decided to check out another "train to the plane". This time, the CTA (Chicago Transit Authority). First of all it's the same price: $1.50 (you can't beat it).  If I was going to take a taxi, it would've cost about $30, and caused a lot of hassle and time (because at rush hour, it's no fun trying to get to O'Hare). The Blue line was packed with travelers and stops right underneath the airport (can you say easy).
A special thanks to my cousin Dennis who proved he no longer has crocodile arms and broke out the red carpet for me (rented us a stretch limo, and took us to a fine place for dinner).
After 19 hours in Chi town, it was time to split, and go back to NYC. While landing at LGA, V.P. Gore was getting off his plane ( I am seeing these guys everywhere, last week I saw Bush and Cheney's plane at IAD). I ran as fast as I could to the taxi line because I knew Gore was going to block traffic, so I had to beat him to the highway (and did!). Landing at LGA is much easier, because it's so much closer to the city than JFK. A lot of people don't realize you can get a car service to and from the airports for pretty much the same price as a taxi (maybe a $ or 2 more).  Although, taking a taxi at LGA is not bad at all (they probably have the best taxi starters around, and all the drivers are now required to have an eazy pass for the toll booth.
After my JJ business was complete in NYC, I went out to CT to see my parents, and went fishing with my bro (FYI: I did catch a 5 lb blue, and I let he/she go). I only spent a day in CT, because I needed to get back here to play my once a year Lacrosse game.
The flight to LAX was great as usual, I always take the late flight because it's usually empty and the flight attendants are always so cool. Of course, I did some marketing.  Here is the Loyola Marymount Lacrosse Team & Alumni sporting their Johnny Jet tattoo's and T-shirts.

AVOIDING JET-LAG
Headed overseas? Here are some tips and information on avoiding the well-know trip spoiler, jet-lag.
The most common symptoms of jet lag include daytime drowsiness, body aches, headaches, disorientation, and difficultly sleeping. Dehydration can magnify the effects of jet lag, so it is important to drink as much as possible -- a minimum of eight fluid ounces per hour during your flight. Avoid alcohol and caffeine, which contribute to dehydration, and stick to water or fruit juices.

Safety Reminders For Family Travel By Car (From Bestfares.com)
As families prepare for weekend road trips, we'd like to remind you of five safety points that can help ensure safe travel.

• Use car seats that are safety approved and fit your child. Make sure it is secured properly in your vehicle. Infants should always face the rear, a position that can protect them from neck and spinal cord injuries. Children in the back seats of vehicles are generally safest. Smaller children can be situated in the middle of the back seat, away from the biggest air bag impact. Don't travel with more passengers than your vehicle can safely accommodate. It's better to rent a larger vehicle than risk your safety.
• Take what you need to make the trip enjoyable, but stow heavier items in the trunk (if your vehicle has one). Better, for example, to have a styrofoam cooler in the car, than a heavyweight cooler; drinks in plastic containers, rather than glass. Should you suffer a collision there will be less danger from airborne objects.
• If any member of your family needs attention, pull over to a safe spot and stop. If you try to mediate disputes, mop up spills or tend to other needs that distract you from driving, you're placing your family in harm's way.
• Don't leave your children in the car when you make quick stops. Even if you're just running into the gas station to pay your bill, take them with you unless there is a responsible adult or older child in the car.
• Even if your weekend trip is a short drive to a neighborhood cookout, observe the same safety standards as on long trips. Keep in mind that 70 percent of all automobile crashes happen at low speed and close to home.
