iJET Travel Intelligence (www.ijet.com)
The travel industry is going to have a hard time recovering from the
attacks on September 11. People simply will not be traveling as much: fear
of terrorism and the stress of heightened security are excellent reasons
to stay home.
Access to information can relieve stress, as well as make us safer.
International business travelers know this; some already use the services
of iJet, which was started by people who used to work in various U.S. intelligence
agencies. Companies with large travel departments, as well as global travel
services like Sabre and Worldspan, contract with iJet to help keep travelers
up-to-date on localized travel safety and health issues, as well as other
factors that could affect their trips. IJet also offers customized itinerary
profiles. A system to push critical updates to subscribers through phones
and other wireless devices is being built. The company uses data from publicly
accessible sources, but CTO Greg Meyer says its focus on analyzing and
disseminating this information means that iJet is often far more up-to-date
than news outlets. For the time being, iJet has made access to its location
profile database free of charge, and its itinerary-based service is available
at a discount. - Rafe Needleman

JET?<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Greetings! I know right after the attacks no one wanted to fly
(including me), but people are inching back. I think one way for the airlines
to get people back quicker is to lower the fares and eliminate the advance
purchase and Saturday night stays. When people see such great deals they
won't be able to pass them up and once they are in the air: BHAM!
They feel comfortable again, they tell their friends, and we're back
in business baby! That's just my opinion.
These past few weeks I have been proud to say I am an American.
The country really has come together and the people have been so patriotic.
Last night, after attending the Memorial Service for my friend Cesar
Murillo who was killed when the WTC collapsed, we went to a bar/restaurant
for dinner. It was Karoke Night and someone chose to sing "God Bless
America." We were eating dinner in the dining room and the
next thing I know everyone was standing up. I mean the whole
place was standing up! People had their hats off and hands on their
hearts. It was simply amazing. Who would've thought a karoke
song could get everyone to stop what they are doing (and eating) and stand
up and sing?
Not only that, but the other day in NYC I was walking down the street
and a fire truck drove by with a bunch of tired heroes on it. All
the pedestrians on the street were waving and thanking them. How
great is that? That's the way it should be everyday. Speaking
of NYC, I took a couple pictures to give you a look and feel (not like
you haven't seen enough from the tv). Here is a picture of people glued
to the tv in Grand
Central Station. There is also a makeshift missing
people board near the subway entrance. (People either stop, shake
their heads and cry, or just cruise by pretending it's not there.)
Here is a picture from my
office, three weeks ago we used to have a beautiful view of the
twin towers. What a shame.
Last week I was skeptical of flying, so my Dad and I packed up the car
and drove
8 hours to Erie, PA. Now I know why I like to fly and not drive.
Eight hours driving is like fourteen hours flying. Dang it's long.
The good thing is you can pull over and get something to eat, as we did.
We stopped in Cuba, NY. My Dad wanted to stop get some cheese,
and go to his favorite pit
stop for a slice of tasty
pie.
We finally arrived and got to play
with my niece
and nephew. They are soooo cute!
We spent time with the family
and then I headed to Ohio to pick up Amber. We met in Geneva
On The Lake and my Pops met Amber's Mom and pregnant sister.
BTW: If you ever wondered what the Ohio State Tree is click
here.
Back in Erie, we went to a fundraiser
for Barbara
Hafer who is running for Governor. These political things aren't
much fun but they do have good food!
The drive home wasn't too bad especially after stopping at this awesome
fruit
and vegetable stand.
FYI: Here at JohnnyJet.com,
we spent a lot of time updating all the links (you won't find any dead
ones) and pages so they are view able in all browsers.

GOOD TO KNOW
10 TRAVEL TIPS FOR AIR TRAVEL SAFETY
In light of the recent tragedy that is affecting our nation and increasing
security precautions, the way we travel has drastically changed. Here are
suggestions to make travel by air easier for everyone.
-
Bring two forms of photo identification and keep these on you at all times.
Acceptable are a valid photo driver's license, an active passport or employee
identification from a county, and state or federal agency.
-
Any form of knives, even pocketknives, has always been prohibited aboard
airplanes. Other items that are also prohibited are nail files, scissors,
straight razors, nettles and other sharp objects.
-
If possible, take a cell phone and make sure it is fully charged. This
will enable you to call the airline for travel information and assistance.
-
Try to pack light and bring only what is needed for your trip. Carry-on
is still permitted, so consider traveling only with carry-on luggage that
is in accordance with your airline's size requirements. This information
can be found on the airline's web site.
-
Avoid bringing any suspicious looking items that may prompt time consuming
searches. Also, avoid using plastic or paper bags as a form of luggage.
-
Keep your luggage with you at all times. Unattended bags are subject to
on-the-spot searches.
-
Make sure all your luggage is properly labeled with your identification
and is locked. As you may be asked more than once to show the contents
of your bag, make sure you have the keys to unlock your luggage.
-
Due to increased passenger and baggage security screenings at all airports,
baggage will no longer be accepted for check in at curbside and passengers
are now required to check-in at the airport a minimum of two hours prior
to departure for all travel within the continental U.S., and three hours
for all international travel.
-
If you don't have an electronic ticket confirmation letter, a travel agency
itinerary, a boarding pass or a paper ticket, you will not be permitted
beyond the security checkpoints.
-
Family, friends and drivers without tickets will not be permitted in the
gate areas to greet arriving passengers or to see off departing passengers.
Be sure to plan and agree upon a clearly understood place to meet in the
baggage claim area or main terminal of the airport.
