What did I do this past week? I made quick stop in Chicago to take
that picture, then on Sunday, I went to American
Martyrs Church (to pray for my Mom and everyone else). After church
they had a social
for Young Adults (20's-30's). It always a good time (and they serve wine,
cheese, snack, and cookies:-). If you live in So.CA you might want to check
this out, especially if your single.
Yesterday the Sunset
in L.A. was spectacular.
Unfortunately, I had to cancel my trip to Singapore and Hong Kong.
My Dad decided he wasn't up for 30 hours of traveling with a punctured
ear drum, so I told him I would save my miles and take him another time.
On a happier note we are all going to Vega$ to Celebrate his annual
70th Birthday Party, so hopefully I won't roll snake eyes.
I still am receiving cards from the American Cancer society from people
making a donation in my Mom's
name. Thank You! For all the rest of you I know you know someone who

McGinnis Consider Alternate Airports Another way to get around high fares and tight restrictions is by flying
to nearby airports. Most major business travel destinations have a smaller
secondary airport that usually handles low-fare or regional flights. Many
times a major will match fares and lower restrictions to both the primary
and secondary airports. The key is that you must ask your travel agent
to check for fares to these secondary airports. Some examples:
Los Angeles: The LA basin boasts four airports in addition to
Los Angeles International (LAX). These include Long Beach, Orange County,
Ontario and Burbank.
Chicago:O'Hare is the major airport, but many large carriers
will match the low fares that the smaller carriers offer to nearby Midway
Airport. With the recent introduction of an El (metro) stop, many travelers
prefer Midway to the sprawling and crowded O'Hare. Low-fare seekers may
also consider flying to nearby Milwaukee--about and hour north of Chicago.
Washington D.C. Ronald Reagan National is the city's close-in
convenient airport, but also the most expensive. Suburban Dulles International
and Baltimore/Washington International offer much better deals.
San Francisco Considering traffic, it is sometimes faster to
drive across the bay bridge from Oakland Airport than to drive up the peninsula
from San Francisco International. Those willing to drive a bit further
may find a lower fare at San Jose or Sacramento airports.
Other primary-secondary airport examples: Miami and Ft. Lauderdale;
Denver and Colorado Springs; Houston International and Houston Hobby; Dallas/Ft.
Worth and Dallas Love Field. And fares in and out of Newark are usually
somewhat cheaper than New York's La Guardia or Kennedy airports.
Brazil picks: The U.S. has given rights to American for seven weekly
flights between New York's JFK and Rio
de Janeiro and Delta for three weekly flights between Atlanta Hartsfield
and Rio de Janeiro. Schedules will be set later.
