JET?<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Aloha! This week has been veeery interesting...
have you ever had to play host to your father for over a week? Well, I
was suppose to go to the East Coast (and freeze for some Christmas parties),
but instead my Dad decided to stay a tad bit longer in CA, and guess who
was his tour guide?
It all started out last week in Vega$, then he
came to visit me for supposedly 2 days, and HE IS STILL WITH ME!
Don't get me wrong, I love my father, and I like spending time with him,
but he is starting to make me
CRAZY! First of all, he is almost
deaf, huh? Yeah, that's all I hear, and my voice is hoarse right now from
yelling to him, did I mention he likes to wander?
The start of my Dad's tour took place in Palos
Verdes, then we drove 2 hours to see "Amber
Airplane" (she doesn't like me calling her:
"My Girl") at her hotel in San Diego. We went
Shopping
@ Horton Plaza, then toured Old
Town. By the way this is what Christmas
in Old Town looks like. We drove back to L.A., and my Dad
talked me into taking him to Hollywood
Park (he loves betting on the ponies). I didn't mind that
much because it's right below the LAX flight path. Do you know how many
747's
I saw land? About 20 in 2 hours. It was so cooool to see these planes coming
in from Japan, Australia, Italy, France, Brazil,... (you know I know where
all the planes are coming from, don't you?). Besides boring my Dad with
which plane is coming from where, I did pick
a couple winners! We ended the L.A. tour at a friends
Christmas Party (look who was there! Becky
The Farmers Daughter, from WOW
(Women Of Wrestling).
My Dad took a nasty fall playing football with his buddy in front of
my house. He had to be rushed to the hospital by ambulance, but he seemed
to recover quickly, the next day he wasn't in much pain, and I felt bad
for him, so within 70 minutes I booked us first
class tickets (using miles of course) to Hawaii (it's his Christmas
present). Here we are coming in for a landing.
Well, I think it was a big mistake that we came, because he woke up
moaning, and instead of going to the beach, we went to the emergency room.
It was scary, but it turns out he is going to be OK (but he did break a
vertebrae in his back). I feel for him because he can't do much here, no
climbing Diamond Head, No walking for miles along the strip, and No surfing
for pops. Too bad, next time though.
Did I mention he is on Percoset to kill the pain? It's starting to
make him whacky, and he is saying some crazy things. Somebody help me!
Cheers!
By The Way "Merry Christmas to all, and to all have a goodnight."

TIP OF
THE WEEK:

Know Your Code
Be aware of the airline trend toward a relatively new phenomenon called
"code sharing," in which more than one airline sells seats on the same
flight. (One flight "shares" several airline "codes," so although your
ticket says DL for Delta, the plane you fly on says Swissair or SR.) One
important detail about code sharing: With more than one airline selling
seats on a flight, you may be able to find cheaper seats if you shop among
partners. One airline won't quote you the price being asked by its partner,
even if it's for the very same flight. A good travel agent should tell
you, however. While it is confusing, code sharing benefits frequent flier
program members because it expands earning and redemption opportunities.

Safety Tips For Holiday Travelers By Car
Shell Oil Company gathered a panel of driving experts and asked them
for tips to help reduce risks on the roads this holiday season. Here's
what they came up with:
-
Check your tires for proper inflation. Make sure the windshield, headlights
and taillights are clean. Check all fluid levels, belts, hoses and clamps,
and refill or replace as necessary.
-
When traveling with children, keep in mind that the safest place for them
is the back seat. This keeps them far from the impact in a head-on collision
and away from the passenger-side air bag.
-
Make sure your trunk is properly stocked with items that will come in handy
in the event of an accident. These include a fire extinguisher that is
up to date and securely stored; flares or reflective devices; jack and
lug wrench; properly inflated spare tire; flashlight with extra batteries;
jumper cables; empty, approved gasoline container; blankets, and umbrella,
poncho or raincoats.
-
If your tire blows out, don't slam on the brakes. You could lose control
completely. Take your foot off the gas and concentrate on staying in your
lane. Slow down gradually and pull off the road to a safe location.
-
If your battery goes dead, know how to jumpstart it safely. Position the
vehicles so jumper cables can reach, but vehicles aren't touching. Connect
one end of the red cable to the positive terminal of the dead battery,
and the other to the positive terminal of the good battery. Connect one
end of the black cable to the negative terminal of the good battery and
the other to an engine bolt head or other piece of non-moving metal. Make
sure the jumper cables are away from moving engine parts. Start the engine
with the good battery and run it at a moderate speed. Start the engine
of the vehicle with the dead battery according to your owner's manual.
Once it starts, reduce the engine speed to idle. Remove the jumper cables
in reverse order, starting with the black cable from the engine bolt or
metal connection on the car with the dead battery. The engine needs to
run for 20 minutes (which can include driving time) to start recharging
the battery.
-
Avoid being cut off: Make sure you're not driving in another driver's blind
spot. Glance into their rearview mirror. If you can't see their face, assume
they can't see you.
-
Get out of a skid by taking your foot off the gas, and then turning the
steering wheel in the direction you want the front of the car to go. This
not only helps straighten the car out, but also can help regain traction.
-
Trucks need room to maneuver, so give them some space. Stay 100 to 250
feet behind the trailer. Don't pass on the right or cut in front of trucks,
and stay out of their blind spots.
-
Prevent driver fatigue on long trips by keeping the car temperature cool,
taking frequent breaks and having plenty of snacks. It also helps to avoid
night travel, as the glare of the lights outside and from the dashboard
increases the chance of highway hypnosis.
-
If you're involved in an accident, stay calm, move out of traffic and find
a safe place to wait for the police and emergency crews. Sometimes the
safest place to be is in your car. Warn other motorists by turning on your
flashers and raising your hood or trunk, and watch for traffic, fire and
wires. Turn off the ignition of all vehicles.

company, access www.countonshell.com.
