LARRY'S ANSWERS
HOW OFTEN DO YOU FLY?
Between business and pleasure, I fly about 10 times a year. My goal is to
travel just enough so that it's still fun and I'm excited when I reach the
airport.
IN A YEAR HOW MANY MILES/POINTS DO YOU EARN?
Not enough for elite status. I
often visit odd places and use whatever airline that can take me there.
Means I have many frequent-flier accounts with tiny balances.
WHAT CLASS OF SERVICE DO YOU MOSTLY FLY IN?
I'm a coach man, alas.
FAVORITE AIRLINE?
I don't play favorites, but have to say Southwest has
never disappointed me. It's cheap, reliable (and often amusing)
transportation.
FAVORITE AIRCRAFT?
One that will stay in the air.
FAVORITE HOTEL?
I always want to stay somewhere new. The nicest one was
probably the Prince Maurice in Mauritius.
FAVORITE AIRPORT?
Washington-Dulles -- because of the memories (not the
mobile lounges). I grew up in the area and love the terminal's soaring
architecture. I didn't take my first flight until I was 17, so for me Dulles
represents the romance and possibility of travel.
FAVORITE CITY?
Like hotels, I always want to see a new one. Favorite so
far? Luang Prabang, Laos
AISLE OR WINDOW?
Window.
ETICKET OR PAPER?
E-ticket.
TRAVEL AGENT OR ONLINE?
Online for familiar routes, an agent for something
complicated
FAVORITE TRAVEL WEBSITE?
Saying Johnny Jet and the Dallasnews.com would be
shameless, wouldn't it? I also love to surf newspaper travel sites around
the world, and have been using Quickbrowse.com to grab a bunch of sites at
once.
FAVORITE TRAVEL COMPANION?
A good novel, my wife and son.
BEST TRAVEL TIP:
Pack your sense of humor, a clean credit card and ear
plugs.
